The Rank-Ups: The Most Anticipated Anime of Summer 2017 by Charapedia and e-bi Xpress

Just a couple of days ago, Animei-Chan foretolds the anime series of the Summer Anime of 2017 that will hit the heart of masses. You can see the post here and here. However, the battle will be endless until the actual episodes are released and a couple of episodes is viewed and scrutinized by its many viewers.

With the vision of finding the most anticipated Summer 2017 Anime, Charapedia and Kadokawa’s eb-i Xpress conducted a survey. A total of 28 664 Japanese readers participated in the survey. However, both sites came up with different results. It shares a little commonality though, having the same second choice for both of the survey.

10. Yokoso Jitsuryoku Shijo Shugi no Kyoshitsu e

Synopsis:

Koudo Ikusei Senior High School is a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Koudo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment.

Ayanokouji Kiyotaka is a student of D-class, which is where the school dumps its “inferior” students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Horikita Suzune and Kushida Kikyou, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka’s situation begins to change.

9. Dive!!

Synopsis:

The series revolves around the Mizuki Diving Club (MDC), which is on the verge of closing down after having financial troubles. The club’s new coach persuades the club’s parent company to stay open on one condition: that the club sends one of its members to next year’s olympics as part of Japan’s olympic team.

8. Tsuredure Children

Synopsis:

A series depicting various scenarios of young love. These stories range from a boy, crippled by his absolute lack of confidence in himself, cannot even accept the fact that the girl of his dreams actually asked him out on a date, to the near-psychotic girl that pours her own blood into her homemade chocolate in order to win his heart.

7. Battle Girl High School

Synopsis:

Based on COLOPL’s school action role-playing game. Set in the year 2045. The world has been contaminated by Irousu (mysterious invaders who suddenly appeared), and humans find themselves restricted and contained. Standing boldly against these invaders are ordinary girls everywhere, without a powerful army or even weapons.

The Shinjugammine Girls Academy is a school for these “Hoshimori” (Star Guardians) destined to fight the Irousu. The player is assigned to this academy to train the girls and take back the contaminated Earth. And so, once again, the chimes echo through the sun-strewn schoolyard to mark the beginning of classes today…

6. Katsugeki! Token Ranbu

Synopsis:

The year is 1863 as the tumultuous samurai era is coming to an end, Japan is split between the pro-shogunate and anti-shogunate factions. The fate of the world is threatened as an army of historical revisionists are sent from the future to alter the course of history. In order to bring these forces down and protect the real history, two sword warriors, spirits who are swords brought to life by Saniwa (sage), rush to Edo.

The polite and thoughtful Horikawa Kunihiro and the short tempered yet skillful Izuminokami Kanesada, who served the same master, confront the invading army along with a lively gang of other warriors including Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki, Yagen Toushirou, Tombokiri, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga.

As the fate of history lies in these hero’s hands, what meets the blade is yet to be uncovered…

5. Aho Girl

Synopsis:

This 4-koma style manga features Yoshiko, a genuinely stupid girl (she can even manage to get all 0’s on multiple choice tests). She hangs out at school with her childhood friend, who she claims to like, and he has to put up with all her ridiculous behavior!

4. Senki Zessho Symphogear AXZ

Synopsis:

Senki Zessho Symphogear AXZ is the fourth series of Senki Zesshou Symphogear franchise. It all started when two idols, Tsubasa Kazanari and Kanade Amō, collectively known as ZweiWing, battle against an alien race known as Noise. To defeat the enemy, they used Symphogear, an armor that uses the power of music to counteract the Noise’s destructive capability.

On the course of events, Kanade ends up sacrificing herself to protect a girl named Hibiki Tachibana, who ends up with a piece of Kanade’s Symphogear relic, Gungnir, embedded in her chest. Two years later, Hibiki ends up awakening the power of the Gungnir relic inside her body, gaining the same Symphogear armor that Kanade had. Using the power of song, Hibiki and her fellow Symphogear wielders must fight to protect the innocent and defeat those who would use the Noise for evil.

3. Fate/Apocrypha

Synopsis:

The setting is a parallel world to Fate/stay night where the Greater Grail mysteriously disappeared from Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War. After many years of silence, around the same time as the Fifth Holy Grail War would have happened, the Yggdmillennia, a family of magi, openly declares their secession from the Mage’s Association, and that they are in possession of the Grail. The Association dispatches fifty magi to retrieve it, and all but one are instantly slaughtered by a mysterious Servant. The one remaining manages to activate the reserve system of the Greater Grail, allowing for the summoning of fourteen Servants in total.

In the city of Trifas, two factions will fight for the control of the sacred relic, each of them possessing their own team of seven Servants : the Black Faction whose members are part of Yggdmillennia, protecting the Grail, and the Red Faction whose members were sent by the Mage’s Association, trying to take the Grail back. For an event of this scale, the Grail itself summons its own Servant, the holy Ruler, to oversee the conflict.

This marks the start of the Great Holy Grail War.

2. Owarimonogatari

Synopsis:

A peculiar transfer student named Ougi Oshino has just arrived at Naoetsu Private High School. She is quickly introduced to senior student Koyomi Araragi by their mutual friend Kanbaru Suruga, in hopes of obtaining advice regarding a strange discovery she has made. After taking a look at the school’s layout, Ougi notices that a classroom has appeared in an otherwise empty area—a place that should not exist.

Unsure if this is the work of an apparition, Koyomi and Ougi attempt to unravel the truth behind this enigma. But Koyomi soon discovers, after finding himself locked in with Ougi, that the room holds the memory of an event he had long since forgotten.

So when she graduates from high school, it is no surprise that she applies to work at Eagle Jump, the company responsible for making her favorite video game. 7. Saiyuki Reload Blast

Synopsis:

Saiyuki Reload Blast is an adaptation of Kazuya Minekura’s manga of the same title. It is also the fourth season of the TV adaptation of Saiyuki franchise which also has several Original Video Animation and a movie.

The first TV adaptation revolves around a world where humans and demons lived in harmony. However, this harmony ended when demons started attacking humans and plotted a mission to unleash Gyumao – an evil demon imprisoned for thousands of years. Now, Genjo Sanzo, a rogue priest, must team up with three demons – Sha Gojyo, Son Goku, and Cho Hakkai – and embark on a perilous journey to the west to stop these demons from resurrecting Gyumaoh and restore the balance between humans and demons on Earth.

On the 4th franchise of the TV adaptation, Sanzou’s Party has arrived in India. A foreign land where the anomaly’s influence runs rampant. What will they find at the end of their long and treacherous journey?

6. Isekai Shokudo

Synopsis:

At the bottom floor of the building with a dog signboard, in the shopping district near the office street, there lies a cafeteria called “Youshoku no Nekoya,” that has an illustration of a cat on the door. It’s been open for fifty years and has satisfied various salarymen from nearby offices. Despite it being called a Western cuisine cafeteria, it also provides other varieties of menus. For the people of this certain world, it’s their one-and-only special cafeteria.

There is, however, one secret to “Nekoya.” The cafeteria is closed to the public every Saturday in order to make way for special guests. When a bell rings, customers from different places of birth and races appear who ask for mysterious and delicious dishes. They are actually the same dishes served to the salarymen, but these special guests find them to be more exotic than to what they are used to. As the cafeteria aims to serve masterpieces, it is usually referred as “Isekai Shokudou.”

And so, the bell rings again this week.

4. Yokai Apato no Yuuga na Nichijo

Synopsis:

Inaba Yuushi’s parents died in his first year of middle school, and he moved in with his relatives. Though they did care for him, he could tell he was a burden. After he graduated, he happily prepared to move to a high school with a dormitory. Unfortunately, the dormitory burned to the ground before he could move in! Yuushi doesn’t want to live with his grudging relatives, but it’s rough finding lodging as an orphaned student with little money. He finally finds a room in a nice old building which seems too good to be true.

The catch is that it is a Monster House, a place where humans and supernatural creatures—ghosts, mononoke, etc.—live together. Another high schooler lives there, a cute girl named Akine, and she’s completely unfazed by the monsters. In fact, she can even exorcise evil spirits! Yuushi’s high school life just got much stranger than he ever bargained for!

3. Magical Circle

Synopsis:

There is a small village called Jimuna on the continent of Jamu Jamu. This village is home to a girl named Kukuri. She is the last descendent of the Migu Migu Tribe. She is raised by an old witch who teaches her the secret magic of the tribe, but Kukuri is not a good student.

In the same village lives a boy named Nike. He has been raised by very strict parents. They discipline their son to become a brave hero of the village. Nike himself does not want to be a hero at all, but he grows up to become a mighty boy.

One day the king of the village, Kodai, recruits troops to fight against the ruler of the darkness, Giri. Kukuri and Nike are accepted. The two children, the strong but reluctant hero Nike, and the eager but unskilled little witch Kukuri, set out on a wonderful journey full of adventures and friendship.

1. Jigoko Shoujo: Yoi no Togi

Synopsis:

Jigoku Shoujo: Yoi no Togi is the fourth season of Jigoku Shoujo franchise, translated and known as Hell Girl in English. The franchise has also been adapted into a manga series, a live-action television series, and few games. As these adaptations follow different storylines, they are not canon to the anime series, though they have core similarities to the anime.

The story revolves around a girl named Ai Enma, who is better known as Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl). Her existence is known only by a small group of people, and most of these people know her for the service that she provides, which is to carry out grudges on behalf of the people who request her service by sending the person they hold a grudge against to hell.

The means of requesting her service has changed with time, with the latest means being a website known as the Jigoku Tsuushin (Hotline to Hell). This website is once again only known by a small group of people, often in the form of urban legend. It is only accessible exactly at midnight, and can usually only be seen by those who bear significantly powerful grudges. This website can be used to enter the name of the person they have a grudge against and send it.

The story of the series has a recurring theme of injustice, hatred, suffering, and revenge. Elements like violence, harsh language, trickery, blackmail, animal cruelty, torture, insanity and such are found from time to time.
